Generally removing the requirement for it to connect to a phone particularly would be cool. If the Car Thing were able to connect to my computer, for example, I could have it around the house as a speaker system controller. Getting into the car is smart - but getting into the home is just as important - you’ve got something here. However, Car Thing is very different from your typical in-car entertainment system. The car thing is a nice tool, but its range of use feels too restricted. ![]() The car thing is ergonomic and sleek - it’s a smartly priced way to put visual Spotify control anywhere you want in the home.īest part, barely anything needs to change - just put a Bluetooth transceiver in it - maybe could go as far an an aux too - and boom - you just made your product applicable to 2X consumers. To make a serious play in hardware, a broader spectrum of uses would be smart. I bought it anyway because I’m techy and I love Spotify - but all of these comments are right. ![]() As long as your phone is connected to your Car Thing via Bluetooth, the calls you receive will appear on the screen. The software update enables users to see incoming calls on their phones directly on the Spotify Car Thing. I bought this with the intention of using it in my home - I’m planning on making it a bathroom media control but the fact I’ll need to connect it to my phone first to connect it to my speakers means it’s more for fun than for functionality.
